MoveWorks, co-directed by Sarah Foster and Christian Serrano, is a NYC-based dance theater company that combines contemporary dance, ballet, theater, and partnering with WILD imagination to create joyful experiences. Simply put, their goal is to create beautiful things and to make people happy through their work, which has been shown at WestFest, Triskelion Arts, BAX, Amalgamate Artist Series, Boston University, the Tank, Chez Bushwick/CPR, and elsewhere. In the summer of 2015 and 2016, they were in residence on Governors Island presenting their immersive dance theater work, ReArrange, where dances and audiences alike slide on carpets, fly in closets, and toss balloons.
What people are saying...
“Among the acts with bona-fide comedy credentials ... [is] MoveWorks in its performance of The Contaminant, in which scientists – protective gear, rubber gloves, and all – freak out after their pristine lab is infected by a bad egg.”
- TimeOut NY Critics Pick as part of the Triskelion Arts Comedy in Dance Festival
"...interesting movement with delightful humor and captured every ounce of me from beginning to end."
- Review from Boston University newsletter
“The actors made me feel like I was in a Salvador Dali painting - everything was the same, and just slightly, whimsically different... To describe the show in one word, it was surreal. Surreal in the deepest and best possible way. I loved being able to be a part of the show and interacting with the actors. The show absorbed and delighted me. [It was] a deeply unique and wonderful experience.”
